About Us
Georgia Lee Stafford Black
Founder of Montgomery GMWA Chapter.
THE MONTGOMERY CHAPTER GOSPEL MUSIC WORKSHOP OF AMERICA, INC.
Chartered in 1984 by Mrs. Mary K. Elsaw, Georgia Lee Stafford Black’s dream became a reality, and the Montgomery Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. was formed.
MISSION
This chapter is designed to inspire musicians and singers to improve the music in their churches. We continuously endeavor to facilitate the use of music for different occasions through the exploration of hymnals, anthems, spirituals, as well as gospels. All this effort insures a full, well-rounded music program.
VISION
We propose to perpetuate, promote, and propel the Christian ideal through the medium of music and to enhance and upgrade the religious music in our churches. Our Choir is based on love, peace, and harmony. We meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays in each month for choir rehearsals and to carry out the business of our local chapter.
